About Dr. Mike Tanis, LMFT, NCC
Dr. Tanis has been in Private Practice for over 15 years of clinical experience. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Wingate University, Master’s degree in Community and Agency Counseling from Winthrop University, and Educational Specialist degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Converse University. Mike completed his doctorate in Family Therapy from Amridge University with his Doctor of Ministry (D.Min). Dr. Tanis' dissertation was titled "Male Internet pornography addiction and its impact on wives in Christian marriages. He received his academic training in Sex Therapy at Psychological Studies Institute in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently continuing sex therapy education at the Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment. |
Dr. Tanis also offers Telehealth/Online Counseling for persons physically unable to come into the office (this is mainly due to Corvid-19). Dr. Tanis is active in pursuing his own Supervision to better enhance his clinical skills.
Based on Dr. Tanis' dissertation topic, Dr. Tanis is pursuing Certification in EMDR and Emotional Freedom Technique. Dr. Tanis attempts to keep current with updated training to be a more skilled clinician.
Dr. Tanis is a AAMFT Approved Supervisor and a Qualified Supervisor and able to Supervise persons who are seeking to become a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) and/or LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor).
Dr. Mike Tanis specializes in working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing difficulty in relationships, anxiety and sadness related to adjustment problems, spirituality concerns, sexual addictions, trauma and abuse, grief associated with death and loss issues, marital and family difficulties, low self-esteem, and career problems. His specialization includes doing play therapy with children and adolescents and working with persons and couples who are experiencing sexual issues and intimacy difficulties.
